Nadine Leonhardt Takes Over Team Leadership at GFWS
The Gesellschaft für Wirtschaftsförderung und Stadtmarketing Grevenbroich mbH (GFWS) is restructuring its personnel: Nadine Leonhardt will assume team leadership with immediate effect.
With the planned merger of GFWS and the Stadtentwicklungsgesellschaft Grevenbroich GmbH (SEG), during which the position of an independent managing director will be eliminated, Leonhardt will take on responsibility for the operational work of the economic development department as team leader. The managing director of SEG is Wilfried Wißdorf.
Nadine Leonhardt brings many years of leadership experience in public administration, academia, and economic development. From 2020 to 2025, she served as Mayor of the City of Eschweiler, where she also headed the Office for Economic Development as the responsible department head. In this role, she represented the city in numerous committees related to economic affairs and structural change, strategically expanded business networks, and supported downtown development projects in close cooperation with retailers and local stakeholders.
Prior to that, Leonhardt worked for many years as a project coordinator and research associate at Aachen University of Applied Sciences (FH Aachen). There, she managed complex federally funded projects in cooperation with the Federal Ministry of Education and Research and the German Aerospace Center. Her responsibilities included budget and personnel management, project coordination, risk management, and leading interdisciplinary teams. She completed her academic education at the University of Trier (Magister Artium in Political Science) and through international study programs in Tokyo and London.
“Grevenbroich faces major opportunities in the context of structural change. I look forward to working with businesses, the administration, and political representatives to develop sustainable perspectives for our location. For me, economic development means strengthening networks, implementing projects reliably, and actively shaping change,” says Nadine Leonhardt.
Mayor Klaus Krützen expressly welcomes the personnel reinforcement: “With Nadine Leonhardt, we are gaining an experienced leader with proven expertise in economic development, project management, and structural development. She knows the challenges faced by municipalities firsthand and will provide important impetus for the further development of our business location.”
With the future integration of GFWS into SEG, the activities of the economic development department will be consolidated organizationally and more closely aligned with urban development strategies. Under the leadership of Nadine Leonhardt, the continuity of operational work will be ensured while also creating new perspectives for integrated location development in Grevenbroich.
