Vacation internship week
The GFWS is supporting a new career orientation opportunity this summer: the NRW vacation internship weeks. Young people aged 15 and over can take part in short internships lasting one to three days – flexible, free of charge and without the stress of applying.
Would you like to get to know motivated students and introduce your company at the same time? Then the short internships of 1 to 3 days per company during the NRW summer vacation are the perfect opportunity. During the vacation internship week, pupils aged 15 and over can voluntarily gain insights into various regional companies, institutions or facilities on a daily basis. The campaign takes place throughout the North Rhine-Westphalian summer vacations from July 14 to August 26, 2025.
Grevenbroich companies can now register their internship days and short internships on www.praktikumswoche.de/rhein-kreis-neuss/unternehmen free of charge.
The campaign offers you an effective platform to give pupils an insight into your professional field. The uncomplicated insight is particularly attractive for young people to gain a first impression. If they are interested, one can subsequently initiate a longer internship or even an apprenticeship.
For the first time in the whole of NRW
The vacation internship week is already firmly established in other federal states. In the whole North Rhine-Westphalia it will be implemented for the first time this year. In the meantime, 20,000 companies from other federal states have already registered. In 2024, 84% of the participating pupils stated that they could imagine doing an apprenticeship in one of the companies visited.
The internship week is a cooperation between the Ministry of Economic Affairs, the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Labor. Minister President Hendrik Wüst is the patron of this initiative.

Social insurance during internships
The internship days during the vacation internship week are exempt from social security contributions as they are voluntary internships. Voluntary internships are covered by the company's statutory accident insurance. As all companies are compulsory members of the relevant employers' liability insurance association, interns are insured in the same way as regular employees. You can find more information here.
