STEM – Expanding recruitment of young talents

Grevenbroich’s economic development agency GFWS Grevenbroich mbH, supports companies in designing practical STEM education for children and young people in order to spark interest in STEM careers and counteract the shortage of skilled workers and trainees.

Companies can make various practical offers, in particular one-day or multi-day workshops on topics related to STEM subjects such as mathematics, computer science, natural sciences, and technology. Specifically, these can be offers related to digitalization, coding, robotics, 3D printing, microbiology, sustainability, AI, medical technology, engineering, etc. Other workshop topics could include: How does a wind turbine work? How is electricity generated from the sun? How does electricity get into the socket? How can paint be manufactured? Why can a battery be recharged? How does a door intercom system work?

Activities include

•    Providing insights into apprenticeships and degree programs in the STEM field, e.g., by participating in career and study orientation courses.

Zukunft durch Innovation (zdi.NRW, “Future through innovation”) is a joint initiative to promote young talent in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) in North Rhine-Westphalia. Among other things, the aim of this initiative is to inspire students from all types of schools to pursue careers in science, promote their talents, and accompany them on their way to choosing a career or course of study.
